Under the patronage of the president of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, and under the supervision of the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Nasser Samari Jaafar, the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Basra, represented by the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific seminar entitled (narrative locations for the movie camera).
The workshop aims to introduce students to the locations, angles and directions adopted by the film camera in shooting the scene, and to explain its role in building the visual narrative and the aesthetic, intellectual and psychological effects it leaves on the recipient.
The workshop, presented by Assistant Teacher Bader Shawqi, included visitors, during which he reviewed a theoretical explanation supported by practical applications, which dealt with the basics of choosing the optimal location for the camera, and the mechanisms of employing different angles and movements in serving the dramatic and narrative meaning of the cinematic work.
The seminar witnessed a distinctive interaction of students and participants, and contributed to enhancing their theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of cinematography, in line with the objectives of the College in upgrading the academic and artistic level of its students.
