Basra University ranks third in the Iraqi ranking of universities .

The University of Basra has achieved the third place at the level of public universities, among the results of the Iraqi classification of universities for the year 2025, announced by the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, after evaluating more than (100) public and private universities throughout Iraq.
This classification, which was completed by the scientific supervision and Evaluation Authority, based on the evaluation of (103) educational institutions, according to nine main axes to measure institutional performance, including: institutional accreditation standards (15%), global classifications (10%), scientific research effectiveness (35%), sustainable development and green indicators (10%), assessment of scientific and academic reality and compliance rules (5%), awards (5%), international diversity (10%), Occupational Health and safety and environmental conservation (5%), activities (5%).
The ranking results published on the official website of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research showed the excellence of Basra University and its progress in scientific, research and institutional performance indicators, reflecting its solid academic position among Iraqi universities.
On this occasion, the president of the University of Basra, Dr. Mohannad Jawad al-Asadi, extended his congratulations to all the University's teaching staff, researchers, staff and students, stressing that this achievement is the fruit of teamwork and institutional integration, and evidence of the University's continuous keenness to improve the quality of education and scientific research, and continue to achieve advanced positions in national and international rankings.
